In the quiet hours of the early morning on August 7th, 2025, a devastating fire broke out at Nyinahin Zongo, destroying several homes and leaving many families homeless. The blaze began around 3:27 am at the house with the digital address AI-0025-2688, shaking the tight-knit community to its core.
Mr. Elvis Amoro, the landlord, recounted the harrowing moments leading to the inferno. A tenant’s distress call about the smell of melting cables alerted him, but initial searches in the house and ceilings found no signs of danger. Moments later, flames erupted, forcing residents to flee for their lives as the fire quickly consumed the rooms.
Despite the chaos, Mr. Amoro praised the courage and swift actions of neighbors who risked everything to contain the flames, preventing the disaster from spreading further. However, the absence of a local fire tender compounded the crisis, leaving the fire unchecked for a critical period.
Mr. Simon Bonzieadu, the 2IC of the Nyinahin Fire Office, expressed deep sorrow over the incident but commended the community for their efforts in safeguarding lives. He urged residents to prioritize electrical safety and to report fires promptly to emergency services to prevent such tragedies.
Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, the District Chief Executive, visited the affected families, including Madam Rita Anyanor, a nursing mother who lost all her possessions in the fire. He expressed heartfelt condolences and assured them of the government’s commitment to support and rebuild. He also pleaded with central Government to fast-track the procurement of fire tenders which Atwima Mponua District will be a beneficiary, emphasizing the critical need for better fire response resources.
In the face of loss and destruction, the spirit of Nyinahin Zongo shines brightly—united, resilient, and hopeful for a safer tomorrow. The Assembly has begun mobilizing assistance through the NADMO office to aid the displaced families, reminding all to stay vigilant and prioritize safety in their homes.
