A wave of excitement and heartwarming moments swept through the Atwima Mponua District today, Thursday, September 11, 2025, as the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, participated in the annual “My First Day at School” program.

This cherished tradition, initiated by the late former President John Evans Atta Mills, warmly welcomed young learners into the educational fold.
Accompanied by the District Director of Education, Miss Amma Adwubi Asafu Adjaye, and her dedicated team, Hon. Issahak visited five schools: Nyinahin Islamic Basic, Agogoso D/A Basic, Nkrumah Al-Siddiq Islamic Basic, Katakyewa D/A Basic, and Kukubuso D/A Basic. The day was a vibrant tapestry of smiles, laughter, and the creation of cherished memories for the young students.
During his interactions, the DCE strongly encouraged the children to embrace their educational journey, emphasizing the profound importance of education in shaping the future they all aspire to. Miss Asafu Adjaye lauded the teachers for their commendable hard work and dedication. However, she also highlighted the pressing need to address and curb issues of absenteeism and truancy within the schools to ensure consistent learning.
The visiting team shared delightful confectioneries with the pupils, creating a warm, nostalgic atmosphere that evoked the magic of first days and new beginnings.
Later in the day, the District Chief Executive proudly presented newly trained Community Police Assistants and Fire Service Assistants to the District Police Command and Fire Station. These enthusiastic young men and women are poised to commence their vital roles in serving and protecting the communities within the district.
In his address to the new recruits, the DCE urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in their service. He reassured them of the NDC government's steadfast commitment to integrating qualified personnel into the formal security services upon the completion of their training tenure.
