It was supposed to be a simple commissioning ceremony, but the people of Bayerebon No. 3 used the occasion to highlight challenges beyond their newly completed Kindergarten (KG) block. On Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, the community welcomed the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, who arrived with party faithfuls and staff of the Atwima Mponua District Assembly to commission the project. Schoolchildren, parents, teachers, clergy and residents gathered for the ceremony, celebrating the new facility while reminding authorities that more development was still needed.

In his address, the Assembly Member, Hon. Justice Nkrumah Boateng, praised the DCE for ensuring the completion of the long-awaited project but also drew attention to the community’s deplorable roads, poor telecommunication connectivity and inadequate access to water. His message was clear: the new KG block is a major achievement, but Bayerebon No. 3 still has unfinished business.

Hon. Issahak Ibrahim noted that the growing population of Atwima Mponua required the Assembly to provide more schools and expand educational infrastructure. He also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessors, Hon. Darko and Hon. Marfo, towards the completion of the project. The DCE added that “Early childhood education lays the foundation for lifelong education and that reason, its important that our children have access to safe, appropiate and well-equipped learning spaces from the very beginning”.
The DCE assured residents that chairs and other essential ancillary facilities would be provided immediately to make the classrooms ready for effective teaching and learning. He further promised to facilitate the construction of a mechanised borehole by the close of the year and work towards securing a telecommunication network tower by next year.
The Kontihene of the community, Nana Yaw Oppong II, expressed appreciation to the DCE and the government but urged him to “walk his talk” by ensuring that the promises made were translated into tangible development. “For us within the community, the commissioning was not only the opening of a new KG block but also a renewed call for improved roads, water, communication and other essential infrastructure” He added.
The ceremony ended with cheers, dancing and celebrations from schoolchildren, parents, teachers, clergy and residents.
In attendance were the District Coordinating Director, Samuel Kwan Gyan; Clinton Achana, Budget Analyst; Kwadwo Boateng of IT; Lawrence Osei; Sestina Coffie; Kobby Sagoe; Ernest Ashie, Assistant Director; and Jephthah Sarfo of the Information Services Department, among other dignitaries and community members.
